The recent weekend of November 1st 2008 saw Blue Mountains Athletics Club athletes at The Crest Track, Bankstown for an Inter Club Meet
On a somewhat damp and overcast afternoon, we begin with club athlete, 15 year old Jesse Beadman, who made his senior debut. This young man hails from Riverstone and is the 2008 ANSW All Schools 400m and 800m champion. In the under 17 400m, Jesse came home to third place in the time of 52.93 secs. This
athlete also displayed his middle distance pedigree by taking first
place in the 2000m steeplechase with a club under 16 record of 6.52.57. Another club record to fall on the day was the under 18 3000m steeplechase record that went to Val Borg with a 10.51 effort.

Athletics NSW Inter Club Meet Blacktown/Randwick October 25th 2008 |

The steamy afternoon of Saturday October 25th 2008 saw Blue
Mountains Athletics club athletes in action at both Blacktown and
Randwick synthetic tracks.
We begin at Blacktown where armed with a pair of new Nike Zoom
Victory middle distance spikes (forgive the shameless publicity for
this shoe company !), Earl O'Brien romped home in some style to a time
of 8.59.8 and second place in the male Open 3000m. This athlete
encountered late afternoon winds of some strength in the back straight
to record a great time.

Athletics NSW has the pleasure of announcing the appointment of Mr Greg Meagher to the position of Chief Executive Officer.
Meagher comes to Athletics NSW with a strong background in grass roots sport development and education.
Over
the past four years Meagher has managed Australian Rugby Union's
recruitment and education portfolios with outstanding results,
including developing the organisation's education program into a market
leading initiative which gained the Australian Sports Commission's
Junior Sport Award.

Athletics NSW State 3000m Open Championships Nov 8th, 2008 |

Blue Mountains Athletics Club now invites suitably registered senior athletes to compete at the Athletics NSW State Open 3000m Championships for both female and male athletes.
This annual showpiece of middle distance running is scheduled for the SOPAC Warm-up Track, Homebush, NSW, on the Saturday night of November 8th, 2008.
Entry will be available online from next week prior to the event at the URL www.nswathletics.org.au as well as on the day of the event. Entries on the day of the event will close one hour before the scheduled start time of the first race for each gender.
