An overcast, humid day on Saturday February 2nd, 2008 saw club competition commence for Springwood little athletes and Blue Mountain senior athletes.
We begin with the 3000m, where Morgan Moloney made an attempt on her age club record. Morgan ran this race exclusively against the clock and came home in a time of 11.36. This was outside the existing club record. This was a good effort given a wet track and high humidity.
In the under 16 and 17 athletics, there were PBs for Jesse Lenaz in the 60m, high jump and shot put. There were also PBs for Tegan Haberman and Natalie Crane in the 60m, and good performances in every event for Madeline Brazier. The Club would like to welcome Nikki Coumbiadias, who is going to be very competitive in the sprints in the Under 16 girls. Nikki has recently moved to the area from Wollondilly.
In under 12 little athletics action, there was a PB to Andrew Nethercote in the 400m. He later had a good shot put. There were equal PBs to Louis De Couvreur in the high.
In under12 female action there were PBs to Robyn McKay, Stephanie Mercer, Isabelle Maguire and Kaitlyn Green in the shot. Ruby Thorburn had a PB in the discus and Abby Gudaitis had a PB in the 60m hurdles.
