A warm day with clear
blue skies saw Club athletic competition
begin on the Saturday morning, November
17th, 2007, with the tenth week of competition
for Springwood little athletes and Blue
Mountain senior athletes.
Overnight rain much earlier in the week
left the oval in pristine condition where
action took place on a recently remarked
track.
We begin with the first event of the
day, the 3000m, where Craig Carmody took
first place followed by James Barnes
in second place and rising middle distance
star Ben Ross in third place.
The best effort of the day surely belonged
to javelin thrower Tom Daniels who blasted
the javelin a gigantic 47.89 meters to
take the club record. Nonnie Aldridge
took her age club record with a 14.60
secs performance in the female masters
100m. The masters male 1500m record also
fell to James Barnes in a time of 5.31.90.
This athlete would appear to have hit
some good form. His 1500m record followed
just seven days after setting a club
record in the 3000m late last Saturday
night at Homebush.
Season PBs were achieved by Brett Kingston
and Carrie Johnstone in the 100m with
equal times of 15.10 secs. Other season
PBs went to Graeme Mell in the javelin
with 38.77 meters, and James Barnes in
the 100m and 400m with respective times
of 15.10 secs and 1.10.50.
In
little athletics action, the under
12 group saw PBs to Ruby Thorburn in
the 200m and 1500m, Ella Thorburn in
the 100m, Isabelle Maguire in the 200m,
1500m and shot, Kaitlyn Green in the
100m and triple, Abby Gudaitis in the
200m & 1500m, and finally Robyn McKay
in the 100m, 1500m & shot.
The under 12 boys saw Louis De Couvreur
put in PBs in the triple and shot. Andrew
Nethercote continued his great sprint
form with a 100m PB and a very strong
200m.
The under 9 boys continue to make great
improvements across track and field.
This week there were big PBs in the 800m
by Aidan Richards, Ruairi Brown and Tim
Kniha, and in the 200m by Justice Oswald.
There was a long list of PBs in turbo
javelin with Justice, Damian Alexander,
Aidan, Dahyo Lloyd, Julian Aldridge,
Jacob Herron and Isaac Smith all improving
on previous performances. Other field
PBs came from Ben Sneesby, Ruairi and
Aidan in the discus, and for Justice
and Aidan in the high jump.
The under 15s and 16s had some great
performances this week in all events.
Michael Ferguson had PBs in 200m, triple,
1500 walk and javelin, Mark Brouwer had
PBs in triple and 100m, Alex Woodland
had PBs in 100m, triple, discus and javelin.
Natalie Crane had PBs in the 100m, discus
and javelin, and Tegan Haberman had a
PB in 200m.
