Zatopek
Classic, Melbourne, 13 December 2007
Both Melinda
Vernon (in the 10,000m) and Hollie
Emery (in the 3000m) of BMAC
were in action last night at
the prestigious Zatopek Classic
at Olympic Park, Melbourne.
It is with a great deal of pleasure
that I would like to inform you
that Melinda became the Australian
10,000m champion with a 34.29
performance.
Melinda beat out second placed
Josie Carberry of Victoria with
a stunning piece of front running.
Melinda also claimed victory
over Lisa Dick and Greta Truscott.
In the first event of the night,
the 3000m, Hollie recorded a
seventh placed performance with
a 9.51 effort. This was a good
effort in what were challenging
warm, humid and windy conditions.
Hollie was able to beat out both
Jess Gilfillan and Courtney Gilfillan
of Queensland in a race won by
Lara Tamsett in 9.28.
Well done ladies.
